Nick Lekkas, DDS - Orthodontist

Accomplished and respected, Dr. Nick Lekkas is a highly qualified board certified orthodontist utilizing the very latest techniques in orthodontic treatment. His goal is to provide state-of-the-art comprehensive orthodontic care whether traditional, invisible, and surgical treatment options for adults and children. Dr. Lekkas has a strong commitment to the diagnostic requirements of each individual to obtain optimal facial balance and appearance, as well as a beautiful smile.

He received his Bachelor's degree in Science and graduated with distinction in the honors program and subsequently received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in dentistry after completing four years of training at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry. He also completed a one year Advance Education in General Practice Residency from Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach, Florida.

Dr. Lekkas practiced as a general dentist before he was one of six residents chosen to attend the world-renowned Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. He completed a three-year postgraduate program at where he was awarded his orthodontic specialty certification. Dr. Lekkas has achieved Board Certification and is a Diplomate of The American Board of Orthodontics, a distinction only awarded to a small number of orthodontists. He holds active memberships in the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association and Southern Association of Orthodontists.


Jose I. Garri, DDS - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

 

Dr. Jose I. Garri - Oral and Maxillofacial SurgeonDr. Garri's long educational path started in Gainesville, Florida. There he attended college and obtained his dental degree at the University of Florida. Upon completion of a general practice residency in dentistry, he sought further training and completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery. It was during this residency that Dr. Garri developed an interest in the treatment of cleft lip and palate patients, and in the care of children with facial deformities.

In order to pursue these interests, Dr. Garri decided upon the completion of his oral surgery training, to return to medical school and pursue a career in plastic surgery. He completed medical school at SUNY at Stony Brook and then a general surgery program at the University of Miami. It was there, that he also completed his training in plastic surgery. Dr. Garri finished his long surgical training at UCLA with a year of craniofacial surgery.

With a strong background in both medicine and dentistry and many years of surgical training, Dr. Garri is amply qualified to pursue his clinical interests which include cosmetic surgery, craniofacial surgery, and maxillofacial surgery. He not only has a private practice in South Miami, but also is involved in Miami Children's craniofacial clinic.

The author of several articles and book chapters, Dr. Garri has also participated as a faculty member in several courses within his areas of expertise. He  has also co-edited a book on craniofacial surgery which was published in early 2008. He is also involved with several charities and is a board member of the Miami CARE Foundation, a private not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping children with craniofacial anomalies. The education of young surgeons is also extremely important to him and he truly appreciates and enjoys the time he devotes to working with students and surgical residents. Dr. Garri has also recently been featured as one of the surgeons on the television show Facemakers (The Learning Channel), a documentary series on the work being by the craniofacial clinic at Miami Children's Hospital.

A very dedicated surgeon, Dr. Garri believes strongly that every patient deserves his very best.  Jorge Fernandez-Abril, DDS - General Dentist

 

Dr. Jorge Abril is a 2004 graduate of the University of Maryland Dental School. He received his undergraduate degree in Zoology from the University of Florida, and he attended high school locally at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School.

Dr. Abril has been married to his wife Ana Cristina for six years, and they just recently had a baby girl, Carolina. Dr. Abril is the second dentist in his family, along with his sister Maria, who is also a graduate of the University of Maryland.

Dr. Abril believes in performing thorough dental, periodontal, radiographic, and oral cancer exams. After enough information is gathered, he believes in executing a well planned and predictable course of treatment.

In his free time, Jorge is an avid sports fan and follows the Heat, Marlins, Dolphins, Gators, and Canes. He enjoys playing basketball and hopes to pass on a love of the game to his daughter in the future. Dr. Abril plays some acoustic guitar, and despite a mediocre singing voice, he has been known to hog the microphone on karaoke night. 


 

Nancy Lee, DMD - General Dentist

Dr. Nancy Lee is a South Florida native. She was born and raised in Miami, and after obtaining two Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Psychology at the University of Florida, she returned and was awarded her Doctorate degree at Nova Southeastern University, College of Dental Medicine, graduating with the top of her class. Dr. Lee then received advanced education in General Dentistry at the Miami VA Medical Center.

In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, snorkeling and diving, stand-up paddle boarding, and gardening, among other activities.

Dr. Lee's professional memberships include the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Her practice philosophy involves thoroughly listening to her patient's concerns, helping them understand the causative factors of underlying problems, and providing treatment options that suit their needs.

Osbel Borges, DMD - Oral Surgeon

 

Dr. Borges, a native of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, obtained his degree in Dental Medicine at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He graduated with honors and was presented with an award in “Outstanding Achievements and Performance in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery” by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He was also awarded membership to Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society, a prestigious and nationally recognized organization which rewards excellence in scholarship and exemplary traits of character.

His interest in medicine and surgery led Dr. Borges to the pursuit of additional training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He completed his residency training at Nova Southeastern University in south Florida, where he developed a special interest in wisdom teeth surgery, implant reconstruction, maxillofacial pathology, cosmetic surgery, orthognathic surgery and facial trauma. With hospital affiliations in Broward Health Medical Center and Memorial Regional Hospital, both level I trauma

centers, Dr. Borges has participated in numerous advanced facial reconstruction cases and was chief of a busy head and neck cancer service, offering a wide array of treatment options to patients with head and neck malignancies. He received extensive training in the diagnosis and management of oral cancer with exposure to microvascular free flap reconstruction. As coordinator of a multidisciplinary dentofacial anomalies team, Dr. Borges has played a key role in the surgical management of patients with anomalies of jaw relations and has performed numerous jaw rearrangement surgeries.

Committed to education and patient care, Dr. Borges has published in several scientific journals and has recently published a book chapter in Oral and Maxillofacial Clinics of North America with the goal of optimizing awareness and providing the best treatment possible for patients. As a clinical instructor in local anesthesia administration and adjunctive anesthetic techniques, Dr. Borges has mastered the skills of local anesthesia administration and deep sedation, providing a more comfortable environment and a more pleasant experience for his patients. He believes that it is the duty of every surgeon to maintain updated knowledge as technological advances modify the practice of medicine, and maintains adjunct faculty position in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Nova Southeastern University and the Department of Pediatric Dentistry in Miami Children’s Hospital.

Gonzalo Cortes, DMD - Pediatric Dentist

Pediatric Dentist Dr. Gonzalo Cortés is a specialist in pediatric dentistry. After college, he received his pediatric dental degrees from the Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine & Miami Children’s Hospital. He has extra years of specialized training developed just for kids. This includes preventive dentistry, orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, treatment of traumatic injuries, child psychology, and care of special needs patients.


Mohamed Elazizi, DMD - Periodontist

Dr. Mohamed Elazizi is a Board Cerified Diplomate of the American Board of  Periodontology and an award-winning Ivy League graduate.

As a specialist, dental reasearcher and professor he is uniquely qualified to provide statee-of-the-art dental implants, gum and bone surgeries, gum desease treatments and cosmetic procedures that restore healthy smiles and confidence.

Norys Hayes, DMD - Dentist

 

Dr. Norys Hayes graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in 2005. The following year she took a nine- month course in Implantology. She has continued to practice Dentistry in south Florida for the past 10 years.

Dr. Hayes is the mother of a seven year old girl and continues to balance her time between working mom, wife, and professional care giver. Fun time would include travel, skiing, and any other outdoor activity that is energetic and doesn't include rest or relaxation. Dr. Hayes works with speed and confidence and welcomes the challenges that Dentistry offers on a daily basis.


Francisco Azar, DDS - Pediatric Dentist

As a Pediatric Dentist, Dr. Azar has completed two years of advanced Pediatric training and education beyond dental school. A pediatric Dentist provides both primary and specialty comprehensive preventative and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children through their adolescent years.

Ivet Romero Vasquez, DMD - General Dentist

Dr. Romero was born and raised in Cuba where she completed her four out of 5 years program to become a dentist at University of Havana. She migrated to the United States in 2008. She attended Florida International University where she obtained her bachelor degrees in Biology graduating with honors. She attended University of Florida College of Dental Medicine, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude being the only Hispanic woman among the four top students of her class. 

For Dr. Romero, "This is a profession that requires compassion, perseverance, and tenacity. We need to be ready to take on this responsibility and to rise to this challenge because; as dentists, we cherish the opportunity to offer our knowledge and skills to those in need."Dr. Romero loves to spend time with her family and friends. Marios Grigoropoulos, DDS-General Dentist

 

Dr. Grigoropoulos is originally from Toronto. He received his Bachelor’s degree and dental degree from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto.  Interested in continuing his education, he completed the General Practice Residency Program at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach.  Drawn by South Florida’s unique climate, location, as well as its diverse cultures, he made South Florida his home.

Since 2007, Dr. Grigoropoulos has been practicing in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida providing a full spectrum of quality care with an emphasis aesthetic dentistry.  Recently he joined the Dental Center of Homestead excited by the opportunity to collaborate with his colleagues.   

In his free time he enjoys soccer, cycling, hiking, beaches and traveling.
